“Executive Night” – Social Responsibility & Sustainable Development

Dr. Hutton Regis Executive NightThe ‘Executive Night’ monthly lecture series provide a platform for attendees to network and listen to senior executives discuss leadership in the context of promoting sustainable development. The Dec. 16th featured speaker is: Dr. Bruce Hutton, a global leader in sustainable development education.

Dean Emeritus and Piccinati Professor in Teaching Innovation R. Bruce Hutton, Ph.D., is the Daniels College of Business leader in sustainable development education for graduate and corporate programs. He has received numerous local, regional and national honors for his contributions in business education, applied market research and community service.

In 2005, his body of work in the areas of corporate citizenship and sustainability were included in the Faculty Pioneer Featured Collection in CasePlace.org of the Aspen Institute Business and Society Program.

Hutton was the co-author of a proposal to enhance MBA programs, subsequently funded with an $11 million dollar matching gift to the University of Denver. A significant component of this program deals with issues of values and social responsibility, including environmental ethics and sustainable development. His areas of expertise are in marketing research, corporate social responsibility and the application of consumer behavior principles to issues of public policy, particularly related to the environment and nonprofit organizations.

He is an advisor and consultant to national and international organizations including federal/state/local governments, manufacturing, professional services and nonprofit institutions including Newmont Mining Corporation, Aspen Ski Company, U.S. Department of Energy, Frontier Airlines, Coors Brewing Company, National Renewable Energy Lab, AARP, IBM, First Data/Western Union, National Jewish Medical & Research Center, Southern Ute Indian Tribe, Alliance to Save Energy, Consumer and Corporate Affairs Canada, Golden Gate Bridge Transportation District, Peoples Bank of China, Iowa Energy Policy Council, Illinois Energy and Natural Resources, Oak Ridge National Laboratories, U.S. Department of Energy, National Park Service, U.S. Forest Service, Business for Social Responsibility and others.

Presentations have included the Abu Dhabi Global Environmental Data Initiative in 2002, which was awarded status as a United Nations Type II Partnership Initiative to implement over the next five years. He also participated in the Skoll International Conference on Social Entrepreneurship, Oxford University, Oxford, England, 2007.

When working with the media, Hutton can address national and international sustainability initiatives, corporate social responsibility, public policy and the environment.

Driving I-70, exit 271-B at Lowell Blvd and head North. Continue past Regis Blvd, past Lot 3, and turn right (about half way down hill) into Parking Lot 4.  Directly in front of Lot 4 is the Adult Learning Center and, on the right, is the St. John Francis Regis Chapel.  Main Hall is at the top of the hill, in front of the Chapel.  There is parking at the top of the hill on the left.
