Join Us for Bike To Work Day!

Regis University is proud to be a sponsor of Bike to Work Day, designated this year for Wednesday, June 27. This is a fun, annual event that encourages people who normally drive alone to work to try riding their bikes instead.

Organizers at the Denver Regional Council of Governments (DRCOG) are hoping to surpass last year’s total of 18,000-plus registrants. “Our region hosts not only the largest Bike to Work Day in Colorado, but the second-largest in the nation, behind San Francisco,” said DRCOG Executive Director Jennifer Schaufele. “It really demonstrates what kind of lifestyle people value here: healthy, active and environmentally conscious.”

Regis is donating a raffle prize of a $100 giftcard from Performance Bicycle, and representatives from our university will be on hand at the DTC Station (one of many Bike to Work check-in stations), handing out goodies.

There’s no cost to participate: simply log on to biketowork2012.org and sign up. Individual registrants are entered into a random prize drawing; companies who organize teams around the event participate in a friendly “Business Challenge” against other organizations of a similar size in return for bragging rights and prizes of their own.

In addition to registration, the website offers a list of resources for route planning, online maps of breakfast stations in the Denver and Boulder areas, t-shirt ordering and more.  Go to www.biketowork2012.org, email btwd@drcog.org or call Colleen Miller at 303-480-6764 for more information.
