Bachelor of Fine Arts
The Regis University Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Film and Video is designed as a rigorous, interdisciplinary-based program in the study and practice of film/video, with specializations in Production and Screenwriting. Building upon a strong foundation of film/video writing, directing, producing, cinematography, editing, and acting for the screen, Production Specialization students will collaborate on an Advanced Production thesis film. Advanced Screenwriting Specialization students will take a feature idea from logline, treatment, and outline all the way through the completion of a final thesis draft.
The Regis University Bachelor of Fine Arts campus-based degree is offered in partnership with the Community College of Aurora's Colorado Film School (CFS). CFS students start the Regis program during the fall term that coincides with their fourth year of study. Students from other community colleges may apply to the program, as well as students desiring to transfer from other 4-year institutions, or these students may choose to pursue a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies degree with a specialization in Film Studies. As with all programs, transcripts will be evaluated and students will need to have the desired prerequisites before being able to take upper division coursework.

Bachelor of Fine Arts students are encouraged to discover their individual voice and foster original, creative work through theory and practice taught in two comprehensive specializations:
Film Production
The Film Production specialization allows students to build upon a strong foundation in writing, directing, producing, cinematography, editing, and acting. The Film Production specialization then culminates in students' collaboration on an Advanced Production thesis film in their area of study. Through each stage of production, a filmmaker Artist in Residence will work directly with students on their thesis project. A professional production faculty member will mentor and oversee the entire production from development to post-production, ensuring a creative, supportive, and collaborative environment that fosters student success.
Screenwriting
The screenplay is the foundation on which the entire filmmaking process rests. In addition to developing an idea from logline all the way through to the completion of a first draft, students will analyze the strengths and weaknesses of the screenplay, devising a project-specific rewrite strategy before leaving the program. The entire course will be facilitated by a professional screenwriter with continuing real-world experience, who will both guide workshops and introduce students to feature writing tools and concepts.
Artist in Residence Program
In addition to the tailored offerings of our degree specializations, the Artist in Residence Program allows Advanced Production and Screenwriting students the opportunity to work one-on-one with leading industry filmmakers on their final thesis film or feature screenplay. Film studies students also have an opportunity to discuss related topics with the Artist in Residence at film screenings and lectures. Past Artists in Residence have included Avatar Oscar award winning Cinematographer Mauro Fiore, "Director of the Decade" Ramin Bahrani, and Variety's Top Ten Screenwriters to Watch and Brooklyn's Finest writer Michael C. Martin.
