Regis University's Master of Science in Accounting is designed to allow career-oriented adults and accounting professionals to complete their entire MS in Accounting degree online, or to choose the classroom-based format, whichever format best fits their lifestyle.
In the past several years, accounting fraud at some of the nation’s most notable corporations has changed the face of the accounting industry. Significant changes have been made to the regulations surrounding financial reporting of public companies, and the creation of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act has created an unprecedented demand for accountants and auditors at corporations and accounting firms across the country.

The Regis CPS classroom-based and online MS in Accounting degree has a strong foundation in ethics demanded by corporations and accounting licensing bodies. Curriculum focuses on the expanded knowledgebase required of accountants in today’s business world, providing Regis CPS students with applicable skills and knowledge in:

- Tightened financial reporting requirements
A Path to the CPA Examination
Curriculum option is offered to meet the 150-hour educational requirement to sit for the CPA exam (currently required in 41 states). The 2004 Candidate Performance on the Uniform CPA Examination study revealed that first time CPA exam candidates with 150 hours of education had a 56% better chance of passing all subjects than those with fewer than 150 hours. And historically, Regis graduates have ranked among the most successful in Colorado in passing the CPA exam.
The degree is a ten-course 30-credit-hour graduate semester hour program with an additional seven major foundation courses in business and accounting. The foundation courses may be waived with an appropriate demonstrated academic or professional proficiency with the approval of the MS in Accounting Faculty Advisor.

Master’s Certificate in Accounting
The Regis CPS classroom-based and online Master’s Certificate in Accounting is designed for students who wish to complete an undergraduate degree in Accounting, then earn additional credits to be eligible to take the CPA examination. Most states* today require accountants to complete 150 college credit hours as a prerequisite to taking the CPA exam. Students earn a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting then complete 15 credits of graduate studies to earn a Master’s Certificate in Accounting. Under the guidance of their academic advisor, students will then select seven additional credits to earn a total of 150 credit hours.
* CPA requirements vary by state. These programs do NOT meet the requirements for the states of Texas, Utah and Delaware. Please see your individual State Board of Accountancy for specific requirements.
